Surfing 2017
The Other Bits
A Scout-eyed view:
Surf Camp For the past 4 years I have attended 62nd’s surf camp and it’s certainly one of my favourite camps the 62nd has to offer. This year was by far the biggest trip to date which is why the scouts sleeping arrangements were fairly cramped. Fortunately I was lucky enough to be accommodated into the somewhat luxurious room (for scouting standards). It had four bunkbeds kitted out with some surprisingly comfortable mattresses and a large window of which to my dismay didn’t open. This meant any flatulent released by the Scouts were trapped and left to linger freely throughout the dorm.
The drive towards the beach felt awfully unfamiliar to me. I wasn’t sure if we had chosen different route or if the driver had cracked open one too many Corona’s the night before. However, to my surprise we had made a pit stop to the exhilarating, fun packed, Bee museum. It almost sounds as fun as it sounds it was.
The actual surfing was a blast. The second we had managed to haul our 7 foot boards into the water, the real fun had begun. Overall I would highly recommend the 62nd’s surf camp for a fun packed, adventurous weekend away for anyone looking to ride waves for the first time or wanting to spend an ace weekend with friends instead of parents.
Finally, I’d like to offer a huge thank you to all of the leaders and helpers of whom made this camp possible.
