Surfing 2011

Surfing 2011

 Friday 7th – Sunday 9th October 2011

Grotty weather for photos and a grotty weekend for rugby (unless you’re French or Welsh!), but pretty good for surf. ‘Quite warm’ were the comments upon exiting after 2 hours of surf action, still not a nice cosy bath temperture though… is it.

A flooding in the showers followed the Saturday session, requiring lots of spongee and plungee action. A lack of of hot showers nearly followed the Sunday session, a broken machine and a locked cafe and reception being prime culprits. A certain dashingly heroic leader swept into action though, gave up several cups of piping hot tea to sort it out. All this was surpassed though by Freya’s ‘Shot of the Day’ – best surf shot ever! Sadly, no copy to share with you all. General feeling was Sundays sessions was by far better than the Saturday, it’s amazing what a good nights sleep and a healthy breakfast can do for energy and enthusiasm!

Most excellent homemade pasties from Miss Lovatt’s pasty emporium topped off a brilliant weekend.

Special thank you again to the most excellent people at Surfs Up Surfs School, eleven years we’ve been annoying them every October (with the exception of one May…) and they keep welcoming us back with open arms and absolute friendliness. If you’re ever in Polzeath sign up for a surf session, guaranteed fun in the waves!
