On what felt like one if the hottest days of the year, we set off from camp along the South West coastal path to Polruan. Our route took in some mega hills, along with stunning views that could have been taken from a Mediterranean postcard. Once in Polruan we wondered down to the harbour, where we pretty much filled the ferry over to Fowey.
The scouts then had some free time to explore Fowey and to buy however many nic-nacs, trinkets, ice creams and bags of fudge they could afford, whilst the leaders headed to the nearest tea shop…
We reconvened on the harbour-front, the perfect plaice for us to eat fish and chips, which were happily scoffed down by our very hungry party. Massive thanks to Havener’s fish and chip takeaway, who were able to process our order with half an hour, seriously impressive when you consider that was 43 individual portions of fish and chips! Some even salmoned up the courage to have some mushy peas. Dinner was followed by a spot of crabbing, and despite everyone’s best efforts, no crabs made it into our nets. We very nearly got a couple though!
