Netherlands 2017
Outdoor Valley and Report – Day 4
Day 4 (late due to technical issues!): Outdoor valley. A wet and muddy day was spent at Outdoor Valley activity centre. We started with canoeing, which featured lots of capsizing, crashing into bushes and ramming each other’s boats at speed! More time seemed to be spent in the fragrant Dutch water, having fun with algae, than in the boats!
We then moved onto the ‘survival course’, which required extreme agility, athleticism and upper body strength – so I didn’t fare very well. However everyone gave it their all, and had an awesome time! From traversing a river, to monkey bars, to lifting tractor tyres (big ones!), they kept us super busy for the whole time, proving too much for some leaders who needed some serious napping time on the coach back!
There was a particularly muddy pool to jump in at the end, which covered us from head to toe in mud – an experience people pay good money for at the spa! A swim across algae river was needed to rinse everyone (we did have a real shower after that, the first of the trip for most scouts!!)
