Jersey 2007
Tuesday 28th August
Cycling, baking and wood burning.
“Hello is that the cycle hire, we are here in Jersey stating at a local Scout hut and would like to hire some bikes”
“Ah, you’re driving that minibus around aren’t you?”
“Um, yes we are driving a minibus, you’ve obviously seen it then”
“Yes I’ve seen it and heard all about you”
Quick when’s the next flight off the island…
Anyway, cycling was booked for late morning to give everyone a chance to lie in. A pleasant ride was planned along St Aubin’s beach and joining Le Corbiere walk, an old disused train track. No one fancied anything more strenuous than that! The second group stayed behind at the hut and burnt wood with Ray and burnt cakes with Clive. Actually, they were very nice indeed, apart form the Starburst, Rolo and Werthers Original mix thing that smelt and looked delicious, but more than one mouthful was too sickly to bear… guess where that ended up!
The Scones, other cookies and 3 perfect Royal Victoria Sponges with hand whipped Jersey cream were all thanks to Delia and extremely tasty!
In true 62nd style we arrived at the cycle shop 2 minutes before closing, much to the anoyance of the cycle hire people.
