Christmas Camp 2016
Christmas overload. So much so that it felt like a real, proper Christmas with a very wierd, polite and exceptionally large and kid-heavy family. Besides that and ‘nearly’ blocked toilets it was a fantastic weekend. We stayed at the very lovely Kingsdon Village Hall.
We first visited the Peter Pan pantomime at the Octagon Theatre in Yeovil. Everyone entered into the spirit, especially those brave souls who dressed up in panto costumes. Cue high feathers and cuddles with the big parrot! A special thank you to the lovely Hook and Peter who stayed behind after the show to meet the Scouts and have their photo taken on stage. Thank you so much!
Sunday saw the full on re-creation of Christmas Day, santa visited, potaotes were roasted, parsnips were honeyed, board games were played, fruity stuffing was made. In all, it was full on, but lovely and for the first time ever on a 62nd camp, everyone tucked in at the same time!
That evening we piled off to the local church for the carol service. A special moment when we turned up at the door with 33 people. Doubling the congregation, increasing the under 18 quota by 100% and actually creating a beautiful sound from the back of the church.
