Bivouac 2008
Scouts had the challenge of making their own shleter for the night before sleeping in it, without getting wet. The leaders had the challenge of drinking copious amounts of tea, whilst looking as busy as possible. Thankfully they all managed it, not least to the fact it didn’t actually rain overnight, although the leaders failed on the looking busy…
…a word to the wise: Select your site carefully, yes use natural shelter as much as possible, yes build your shelter well. Yes, make sure you can all fit inside it, yes opt for a place away from others to maximise resources around you, yes show it off proudly to everyone else…
…just make sure it’s not in the water course for the water tap, ‘cos you’ll get wet when leaders turn it on (accidently of course) and it dribbles (or gushes) down the hill!
