London 2019
Olympic Park
A whole 7 years ago 62nd last visited the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, as part of an unforgettable camp – that time though, it was the 2012 Olympic Games. It was considerably more crowded and a lot more excited! Scarily, some of the current Scouts do not recall the London Olympic games, being that they were only around 5 years old.
Strange times.
This time, we were heading up (and down) the gert sliderrr.
After ‘weeeeee!’-ing and ‘wooohooo!!’-ing our way back down, we explored the park via orienteering course, which made for some very hungry scouts, ready for our last night of camp treat…
A quick but exceptionally busy tube ride to bank took us to Leadenhall Market, where we piled into Pizza Express en masse! Food was bought out in record time, and we tucked into an amazingly calm and civilised meal. As restlessness kicked in, we wandered down to the royal currency exchange to await delivery of our ice creams, which due to some deliver’leader’roo navigation issues ended up at St Paul’s Cathedral! We finally tucked into some not-quite-melted ice creams with the suited city folk looking on enviously at us! A lovely way to end a great few days.
