Lansallos, Cornwall<\/h1>\n

“The best actual camping camp EVER”<\/p>\n

Our 43-strong party of Scouts, Leaders and Young Leaders brought the party to South Cornwall this August, spending an unforgettable week greenfield camping near Fowey, on a site last visited in 2009. The 3 minibusses just about managed to navigate the high-sided, windey and narrow Cornish roads, whilst Mike’s 7.5 ton lorry was busy reshaping them into nice wide ones! It turns out rural Cornwall isn’t yet ready for heavy haulage…<\/p>\n

Our stellar itinerary included a zip wire over the Eden project, fish and chips in Fowey harbour, stand-up paddle boarding, poignant smells, coasteering, plus plenty of on-site activities to keep everyone entertained! A brave bunch of nutjobs went for an early morning swim every day of camp, followed by a shower under the waterfall. Although we had no real showers the whole week, we were probably the cleanest we’d ever been on camp!<\/p>\n

In a completely un-summer-camp fashion, we were bathed in glorious sunshine for much of the week, but as to be expected on any true British getaway, this soon turned to torrential downpours just as we wanted to get all the canvas down, cue soggy scouts and steaming minibusses…<\/p>\n

We were also joined by Murtle, Clive’s meerkat lodger. It was her first camp and she was exhausted by the end! However she had a great time, and proved a real head turner at the services and on the beach. Unfortunately she usually forgot which tent was hers, and ended up mysteriously breaking into a different patrol tent each night. Nothing like waking up to a ginormous stuffed meerkat looming over you!<\/p>\n

We really couldn’t have asked for a better bunch of scouts to take away. Always ready to throw themselves into everything except the poo pit, they helped to make the week slick, efficient, and endlessly entertaining. Bravo guys!<\/p>\n
