Jersey War Tunnels, Beauport Beach<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

We managed to quite successfully negotiate our first major task today, getting everyone to the War Tunnels on time in one minibus… Whilst we knew exactly how it worked the poor souls at the war tunnels got hopelessly confused as to whether we were actually there, had arrived early or were late…<\/span><\/p>\n

\n

We had a brief welcome by the head curator who gave us (and quite a few members of the public) a good background introduction to the occupation of Jersey and how the tunnels were built and what they were used for. Many of us spent quite a while exploring the vast underground system of caves and the excellently presented museum within. <\/span><\/p>\n

\n

Strangest and most surprising moment of the whole camp was bumping into a genuine 62nd Cub at the entrance to the caves, spooky…<\/span><\/p>\n

\n

Having been to St Helier the day before we opted for a walk to the beach, 10 minutes later there we were in glorious sunshine, which was to stay for the rest of the camp.<\/span><\/p>\n
