Summer Camp 2014
Canoeing on the River Tone
We’d already hiked up Dunkery Beacon earlier in the day. Now it was the turn for a lengthy journey into Taunton for a spot of leisurely Canadian Canoeing on the River Tone.
Finding the place was the first problem – we could see it – just couldn’t get to it! The comment from the instructor at the end summed up the chilly evening:
“It’s always interesting when the leaders have more fun than the Scouts”.
A wet and cold return to the cars and another long journey back to camp followed by a thawing out and late dinner.
a simply stunnign location to start with – well done Taunton!Affectionately titled – HMS Plonker…
It went seriously downhill from here.
Appearances can be deceptive – all three were rubbish!
The stunning sights of the River Tone continue unabated…
However, we were afforded a pleasant view of the Somerset County Cricket Ground
