London 2012 Athletic 1

London 2012

Walking into the stadium was incredible, to be in the same arena where that opening ceremony had been and where GB had won 3 gold medals 2 days before was something special. There was so much to watch and cheer, even though we were only watching the first round heats. For one of our groups they were so taken with the occasion they began a successful Mexican Wave, going twice around the 80 000 seater stadium.

Afterwards time was spent around the Olympic Park, vast and stuffed full of people! Unfortunately, our special guest star, ex-62nd Scout Aled who had been looking after Team Guatamala was called to work so we could not meet up.

Leaders naturally went for a cup of tea and found a quiet spot to sit down and enjoy lunch. That was until a steward ran forward warning us we were about to get soaked… Huh!? Cue sprinklers from the hockey practice pitches behind the hoardings and 8 soaking wet leaders.

 See the blog for more.
