Rovinj
Rovinj is gorgeous, a small fishing town on the Adriatic, just north of Pula. The old town juts out on an outcrop of rock, crowned with the Cathedral of St Euphemia. Akthough, everyone I spoke to pronounced the town’s name slightly differently. Rovinj, Rovine, Rovinya, who knows!? It’s still gorgeous!
Dinner today was a sit down in an unsuspecting pizza restaurant, overlooking the harbour. Just a shame that they had the blinds down to block out the sun, lovely food though. Great chocolate pancakes too.
We started off with a little swim too cool down and prepare ourselves for some shopping. The Scouts decided that everything was too pricey so set about some serious bartering, not sure how, but it worked! There were more tails about how much had been saved than what was actually bought!
The final challenge of the day was meant to be find the cathedral at the top of the hill therefore discovering the small streets of the old town after sunset. Instructions were meet at the front of the cathedral, several geography and orientation lessons are seriously needed.
However, the final challenge of the day was in reality getting back to our chalet in Fazana. The coach decided to leave us stranded you see. An hour and 40 minutes later it finally decided it would pick us up after all.
Good job they hadn’t gone to bed early.
