Summer Camp 2017
All the other bits…
Sports
We hired the sports hall in Lydney for a couple of hours and exhausted everyone more than they were already. A fiercely competitive game of Bench Ball followed by basketball and the old classic, Space Hopper relays!
A bit of Bivouacking!
Ok, so two groups were under tent with no walls, but we did at least try to build some but wet weather and lovely Marshfield Ice cream from the shop opposite sort of got in the way. Fair play to the two Scouts who did actually build a real bivouac – and sleep in it – bugs and all!
Well, sleep might be exaggerating somewhat…
The Stay White Challenge
The idea was simple – keep your t-shirt as white as possible. Due to rain, the challenge afternoon had been squeezed into a humid hour in the evening. A few deviously hard survival questions and a spot of jousting later t-shirts were judged.
The Stay White Challenge was followed up by the slack line. Most fell off, but where some persisted and looked comically clown-like at least they didn’t give up so easily as others!
Tunnelling Scouts
Next door to us was the excellent Dean Field Centre, who have a lovely set of tunnels to rabbit about in. Various games were played with the additional ear-bursting screams for when the lids were shut and darkness took over.
Sigh…
