Summer Camp 2025

Around camp
It was a campsite we had visited twice before and both times were really rather quite wet. So, we nervously headed down the m4 into deepest darkest Wales. Only a couple of wet days and one of those were spent getting wet in the local gorge.
Spiderland
Possible the muddiest and best assault course we have ever come across! Laid out in a permanent swamp, we decided to go all out in white for our own assault. Pristine white t-shirts (and some shorts) later we advanced en-masse. The first round was to keep as ‘white’ as possible! The final round was all out fun – to which almost all the Scouts went totally bonkers! The leaders, of course, got in on the act and one brave (careless?) Scout accidentally (on purpose?) insulted one of the leaders, it didn’t end well…
They all earnt the brand new special Silver Cross Assault Course woven badge.
Dan Yr Ogof Show caves
…oooo, aaaahhhhhh! Surprisingly excellent fun – and an awful lot of dinosaurs! The Scouts decided the classic firework oooh, aaah reaction was necessary when exploring the caves. I managed to slip behind, only to hear their dulcet tones drifting back through the tunnels. The faces on members of the public was great fun!
Gower Hike
A gorgeous, but windy day was spent in Rhossili, walking around the gorgeous Gower. Quite some distance was hiked and for one group at quite some pace too. Plenty of spectacular views, wildlife and only a little bit of moaning. One group went shorter, but higher, whilst the second group well… didn’t. Topped off by tasty local ice cream at the end.
