Day 3 – Water Polo

An extract from a diary written by one of the Scouts:

Today, I didn’t see any Olympic events. Instead , I went swimming!!

Nobody really minded about my bright orange swimming cap, so that was good!

The swimming pool was great! Half of it was indoors and half of it was outdoors. The water was sooo nice. We splashed around and played hide and seek.

Cary’s had brought Henna, so she did some for me.

We went for a walk around camp before bed. We discovered that there was a weird yoga festival going on. We had Ratatouille for tea and it was really delicious!

The late night water poloists have just returned absolutely buzzing. Sounded like 2 stonking games. Plenty of goals and plenty of brutality by all accounts!

Sat in a USA and French supporter sandwich there was atmosphere aplenty. However, it was Timo that decided some of the chanting was insufficient and thus started his own, readily undertaken by those around!

Those not on events had the joy of a local municipal French swimming pool. A well funky circular design where half the roof rotated to reveal a half inside half open air pool. In this heat, most welcome.

Of course all the boys were well grumpy about the necessity of wearing speedos and cute bonnets. But, as expected, as all the locals didn’t bat an eyelid, no-one cared.
