Winter Camp 2020 Activities

A jam-packed day of adventurous activities incorporated caving in the nearby Clearwell Caves and a hig ropes course which included climbing, leap of faith and crate stacking.

The caves are not usually open at this time of the year, but we were lucky enough to be allowed in! Any initial nerves had soon vanished once we began to explore the cavernous underground maze, guided by our expert instructors. We were also sharing the caves with hundreds of hibernating horseshoe bats, so had to be careful not to knock any as we went past and to keep our bright head torches away from them! Thankfully all bats remained happily asleep, despite some impressive shreiks from the boys…

Back on site, crates were being stacked, walls climbed and leaps of faith were leaped. Crate stacking was a crowd favourite, and provided much entertainment as towers were build to varying degrees of success… Congratulations to Tom, Ben and Daniel who built a 16-crate-high monster of a tower, the highest of the day!
