Summer Camp 2014
Paddleboarding, Rafting & Archery
…In a change to the advertised programme a whole day of extra activities was hastily arranged. Our day of rock climbing in the Valley of the Rocks was sadly cancelled but a more than brilliant alternative was found (and the weather was far better too…)
Wimbleball lake was quite warm for our paddleboarding and rafting session – both of which we have never done before. Originally described as white water rafting – we were sceptical – after all we were heading towards a lake, white water was going to be clearly lacking. In reality great fun was had by all with a whole selecion of games and challenges, leaning backwards getting your head wet, races, spinning, jumping in and rescuing, submerging from one side of the boat to the other to name but a few – but my favourite was the Titantic game: stand on the front of your opponents boat while they spin as fast as possible before you fall in. Should obviously be an Olympic sport.
…and if we ever want to go white water rafting – we’re well prepared!
Paddleboarding looked good fun, but a lot of jumping in, the leaders instead had kayaks – sturdy enough to not get dunked by Daisy, until of course you have to lean forward and kiss the side of the boat, then she goes for the kill.
Still, at least the water was warm(ish).
Archery involved Haribo – best Archery session ever – if you won the Haribo of course.
Many thanks to Channel Training for the last minute fill in with three excellent activities.
A gorgeous setting – and some lovely weather.Go on have a good laugh. At least he wasn’t paddleboarding – would have been windsurfing…
