Our evening’s entertainment was in the form of fireworks at the heaving Scheveningen beach. We were treated to the final night of the international fireworks bonanza – que lots of ‘ooh!’-ing and ‘aah!’ing, from our hastily made sand bunkers. It was Spain vs Portugal, with both sides offering a strong performance, but it was agreed that Spain (the previous champions) were once again the victors. It was also agreed that the Henleaze fireworks would’ve won if they’d been in the competition! It then rained – hard. There was lightning and all!
