Malta 2013 Cruise

Malta 2013

Harbour Cruise

For a simple boat trip the cruise around Valletta’s Grand Harbour was most impressive and highly regarded by the Scouts. After the compulsory Titanic impression on the bow we settled into properly admiring the local landmarks. The Three Cities, our own Rinella Bay, funny bridge thing, lots of boats / yachts and luxury yachts complete with own helicopters were all dwarfed by the largest dry dock in the Mediterranean and even the floating dry dock next to it, complete with drilling / oil rig thing inside it. A peculier site up so close.

A few days later the same floating dock sailed past our little bay whilst we were lounging on the beach, odd site, especially with historic Malta landmarks in the background.

Highlight of the day was clearly the shopping centre, not for its fantastic array of shops and eateries but its marvellous air-conditioning – no one was leaving in a hurry.
