The Beavers are Dementia Friends!
For their Community Impact Activity Badge (stage 1). The Beaver colony voted to tackle the tricky issue of Dementia.
On Tuesday 17th May they created a penny ‘mile’ that ran from the Scout Hut and work its way across Horfield Common ending at Horfield Lodge, to raise as much money for Dementia UK.
The colony visited Horfield Lodge Care Home and spent time making Christmas decorations and talking them, the Beavers also sang songs and carols for the residents. The feedback from the carers and helpers was fantastic and the residents thoroughly enjoyed the evening. The colony is also planning more activities with Horfield Lodge.
A visit, for an evening, and talk from Julie Kemp from Dementia UK was wonderfully inspiring and warmly received, which has led to the Beavers looking to raise money for Dementia UK.
And to top this all off, the colony raised £145.39 for Alzheimer’s Society!
