Belgium 2014
Meeting Belgium Scouts; Poperinge
Scouting Poperinge were again crazy enough to say yes to us staying with their excellent Scouts. Despite some language barriers amongst the Scouts, ours had not learnt any Flemish – poor show, it would appear everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Tales of incredible houses, with funny swings, gorgeous food, parties and bowling were rife the following few days. The biggest complication from the English point of view was always going to be, what do you take as a gift for the Belgium families!? Beer, their beer is second to none, chocolate – don’t even go there. Clifton Suspension Bridge and Wallace and Gromit featured quite heavily, although I never did work out whether they’d ever heard of the latter.
Killed by the furry snake! So, leaders: “how do you feel about getting rid of the Scouts for 2 days!?)Hotel!? No chance! Our excellent driverNo, you’re not staying with us!Come on, give it back…
